Emurua Dikirr Constituency MP, Johanna Ng’eno has come to the aid of a needy boy whose parents were unable to raise school fees. The boy sat the 2022 KCPE exams and scored with flying colors as he got 387 marks out of a possible 500. The boy got admitted to Kapsabet Boys High School, a top tier National School in Kenya.
But the family of the boy comes from a humble background and hence was unable to raise the school fees to enable the boy join Form One. This was highlighted by Akothee who posted the boy’s ordeal on her Facebook Page. From the post, the boy, his mother and their young baby are seen standing barefooted in front of a grass-thatched hut. Akothee then describes the family as people who will find it challenging to cater for the boy’s academic financial requirements. Akothee alleges that the boy is hailing from the Simotwet Village, Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County. Below is Akothee’s Facebook Post highlighting the needy student’s plight:
Admission to Kapsabet Boys High School.
Akothee described the boy as being admitted to Kapsabet High School. Daily Post Kenya did some research on this school and found it plausible since the pass mark for admission to Kapsabet Boys High School is 380 Marks in the KCPE exams. The boy allegedly scored 387 marks, although Akothee did not post the boy’s results slips online. In fact, even Johanna Ng’eno himself did not confirm or deny the boy’s stellar performance in the KCPE exams, hence leaving room for it to most likely be true.
Pricey But One of the Best Schools In Kenya
Kapsabet Boys High School is rated as a National School and hence funded by the Kenyan Government. But the school is managed by a board of governors who share the running of the school with parents on a quasi PTA relationship.
The school is known to be super expensive in terms of school fees. According to the Standard Newspaper, Kapsabet Boys High School charges Ksh. 120,000 per year per student. This is a very expensive fee that three quarters of the Kenyan population are unable to afford to send their students here. The fees structure is usually specified in the students’ admission letters.
Other pricey Kenyan Secondary Schools includes Kapsabet Girls that charges Ksh 90,000 per student per year, Moi Forces Academy at Ksh 82,000 and Alliance Boys at Ksh 60,000 per student, per year.
Despite the pricey fees structure, Kapsabet Boys High School has been worth it for students who choose to join the school. The school has produced the top students in the KCSE exams severally over the years. For example, in 2020, Kapsabet Boys beat the likes of Mang’u High School, Alliance High School and many others by emerging the best school in the country overall. In 2020, Kapsabet Boys High School produced 49 A (plain), 138 A- (minus) 85 B+ (plus), 52 B (plain), 28 B- (minus), 20 C+ (plus), 5 C (plains) and 2 C- (minus).
