Suna East MP, Junet Mohammed has refuted claims that Raila Odinga’s 2022 run for the presidency is a State Project sponsored by President Uhuru Kenyatta. This follows claims by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) politicians’ claims that president Uhuru Kenyatta was running for a 3rd term in office using Raila Odinga as the puppet candidate.
The flamboyant MP asked those making such claims to stop. Junet Mohammed further posed that if “Yangu Kumi na ya Ruto Kumi” was not an endorsement of Uhuru Kenyatta to William Ruto, then such claims that Raila Odinga was a state project should have no basis either. Junet Mohammed said Deputy President William Ruto would also have been a “State project” if their friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta had lasted until 2022.
“They keep saying what’s good for the hen is good for the duck, and we fully agree,” Junet Mohammed said while questioning the double standards approach used by the many UDA politicians, including William Ruto himself.
Who is Junet Mohammed?
Junet Mohammed is the current Member of Parliament (MP) for Suswa East Constituency in Migori County. He also serves as the National Assembly Minority Leader and is the first Kenyan Somali to clinch a parliamentary seat in the Nyanza region. He is a member of the ODM political party.
Junet was born on October 25, 1977, to the family of Sheikh Nuh Mohammed who hails from Mandera County but relocated to Migori where he started a business. The Suna East MP attended Migori Primary School and then went to Lenana School for his secondary school education. He proceeded to attend the University of Nairobi for his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree.
Other UDA Politicians Claiming Raila Odinga is a State Project
The claim that Raila Odinga is a Government Project, State Project or Uhuru Kenyatta Project has been made by many UDA affiliated politicians. For example, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi last week while campaigning in Westlands, Nairobi said that the government of Kenya was funding Raila Odinga’s political campaigns.
“If you see Raila, he is doing campaigns in big tents that are paid for by the government. He should meet people in the field like us,” Musalia Mudavadi said. It is worth noting that Musalia Mudavadi together with Ford Kenya Party leader, Moses Wetangula recently joined William Ruto’s UDA party.
The leaders who accompanied Deputy President William Ruto for a tour of Embu and Kirinyaga counties said Raila Odinga of ODM now christened Azimio was a project imposed on Kenyans.
“Kenya is very united and we will push the country forward. We won’t allow someone imposed on Kenyans,” said Dr Ruto. “Kenya cannot afford a project imposed on them. It is very expensive for us,” he said.
