The man who was accused of assaulting and then sealing his wife’s genital with superglue and sand has been arrested by police.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said they have arrested 30 year old James Kifo Muriuki who on Saturday May 16, 2020 was accused of assaulting and then sealing his wife’s genitals with superglue. The police found Mr. Muriuki hiding in Kaningo town within Kitui County this morning and arrested him as soon as possible without incidence. The DCI team involved combined efforts from DCI Tharaka South, detectives from Special Crimes Unit, and DCI Tseikuru branch.
Last weekend, Mr. Muriuki’s wife recorded a statement with the police detailing a horrific encounter with her husband who came home from Nairobi and then ordered her to move to their cousin’s house in pretext of them avoiding being arrested for violating the covid-19 lock-down in Nairobi.
When the couple and their son reached River Kathita, the suspect asked her to name all the men she has slept with while the husband was away and then ordered her to remove clothes. After she hesitated for a while, Mr. Muriuki pulled a knife and threatened to kill her. She undressed and then Mr. Muriuki raped her and then stuffed her genitals with sand and then sealed the genitals with superglue. He proceeded to put the adhesive to other orifices of his wife including ears and mouth.
Their 5-year old son screamed and the commotion alerted the neighbors who came to the mother and her son’s rescue. Mr. Muriuki fled the scene to escape irate mob that was baying for his blood. The neighbors took Muriuki’s wife to hospital where she was treated and then discharged the next day.
It was reported that Mr. Muriuki had told his wife that he works as a security guard in Nairobi and that he had sneaked out of the Nairobi checkpoints without being noticed and warned his wife not to tell anyone lest he be discovered and be arrested. But the police intimated that Mr. Muriuki was actually involved in a criminal gang and has been on the officers’ radar for a very long time even before he committed the heinous act on his wife.
