Former Barcelona player, Lionel Messi has tested positive for a deadly viral disease. Paris St Germain (PSG) forward Lionel Messi and three other players have tested positive for COVID-19, the French Ligue 1 club has said.
The talented Argentinian formerly played for FC Barcelona, one of the top football clubs in Europe, that has been synonymous with Messi himself. The symbiotic relationship began in the year 2000 when Lionel Messi joined the athletic club at the age of just 13 years old. Back then, Messi joined Barcelona’s Youth Program La Masia until he went pro in 2004.
Lionel Messi played for Barcelona for a whopping 16 years. He currently holds the largest number of matches ever played by one player in the club at 778 matches. The current PSG forward also holds the record for the highest number of goals ever achieved at Barca by a single player at 672 goals.
Messi joined Paris Saint Germain on August 2021 alongside his best buddy, Neymar as well as other national teammates such as Ángel Di María and Leandro Paredes. But the Argentinian found himself in the same pot with his long-term adversary Sergio Ramos.
How Much Money Does Lionel Messi Earns at Paris St Germain?
It is not possible to get a consistent figure as this depends on the quality of one’s sources. But according to L’Equipe, the Argentinian great is earning around US$47 million gross per year, while Le Parisien have also said his salary would be between US$41 million and US$47 million.
Breaking down Mr. Messi’s current salary we get the following: Since gross salary is US$47 million, his net income after taxes and other deductions will then be US$41 million.
Considering the reported $41 million salary, Messi would be earning around US$3.5 million monthly. That would make it almost $860,000 a week. If we talk on a daily basis, it would be US$123,000 a day, or nearly $5,125 per hour, or US$85 per minute, or $1.41 per second.
Whereas this looks like a lot of money, this is not even half of what he was earning at his former football club. This is because back in December 2020, Forbes Margazine reported that Lionel Messi was earning US$ 121 million. He was the highest payed footballer in the world back then.
