Deputy President William Ruto and his wife Rachel wished Kenyans a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2021. In a video posted on their social media, the second family reminded Kenyans that Jesus’ parents never rested from their efforts to show love and care even when they were in a manger.
The second family encouraged Kenyans to care for one another especially during this difficult times of a ravaging pandemic.
“Fellow Kenyans, 2020 has been a unique time in our lives with many lessons. The biggest lesson of 2020 is that no one regardless of rank or status is invincible,” DP Ruto stated.
“Indeed we are all vulnerable. We have learned that our lives are so intertwined. Our interests united in webs of mutuality. During this Christmas we should remember those more in need than ourselves and perform the godly duty of extending solidarity and compassion their way,” Mama Rachel added.
Deputy president William Ruto took this opportunity to thank the frontline essential workers for their relentless work of catering to Covid-19 victims since the first case was reported in Kenya back in March 2020.
“Against the backdrop of a ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, let us especially remember with gratitude our frontline health workers who every day go beyond the call of their vocation and who have shown phenomenal selflessness in the face of unprecedented tragedy.
“It is our duty to let them know that we appreciate their work, their sacrifice and that we stand with them, supporting them and praying for them every day,” DP Ruto lamented.
William and Rachel Ruto also offered words of encouragement to those who have contracted the deadly virus and condolences to families that have lost loved ones to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We pray for the quick healing of the afflicted and continued protection for all our brothers and sisters everywhere,” Mama Rachel stated.
The couple called on fortunate Kenyans to take this time to help the less fortunate in the community.
“Let us continue caring and loving our families, our friends and neighbours. Let us carry on with the work of Nation-building in our various pursuits,” DP Ruto wrapped-up the video message to Kenyans on behalf of his family.
