Deputy President William Ruto’s status at the ruling Jubilee Party has always been questionable. Dr. Ruto still thinks he has the backing of Jubilee Party and hopes that he will be a flag-bearer for the party in the upcoming 2022 presidential general elections. That is why the deputy president needs seriously to have his mental and psychological check-up.
Does the deputy president really thinks a party that has disrespected him severally will consider him for the position of the Party Leader upon Uhuru Kenyatta retirement in 2022? What substance is Dr. William Samoei Ruto smoking? Doesn’t he see the writing on the wall that he is indeed an uneasy partner to Uhuru Kenyatta? William Ruto’s mental faculties need an emergency check-up to ensure they are all working properly.
If there was a time for William Ruto to graciously exit the Jubilee Party, it is right now! It is safe to say that the Jubilee Party and its top brass have lost the confidence they had on Ruto. Nobody respects William Ruto any more. Junior officials at the party including David Murathe and Raphael Tuju constantly disrespect the Jubilee Party deputy leader with high levels of impunity.
Last week, William Ruto went to the Jubilee Party headquarters to get a nomination certificate for a political candidate for the Mswambweni Costituency. Although Ruto said his purpose for going there was to check-up on the progress of his party, this is not the case.
Upon hearing the deputy president was on the way to the Jubilee Headquarters, senior party leaders deserted the place. Ruto’s request was denied as Jubilee officially put a statement saying that they have decided not to field a candidate for the Msambweni constituency as they did not want to compete with the ODM Party.
William Ruto tried to convince the Jubilee officials to change their mind on the issue for several hours, but with no avail. He left the premises and decided to support the Msambweni candidate independently.
Deputy President William Ruto needs to come to his senses and admit the inevitable: He has no future in the Jubilee Party! He is living in denial hoping that things will change and that the Jubilee Party will start respecting him as a valuable member within its ranks.
His hopes of becoming president on a Jubilee Party banner in 2022 is similar to expecting a cow to lay an egg. It is practically impossible! Ruto is the unwanted guest within the Jubilee Party and his constant visits to the Party Headquarters can actually be seen as trespassing the premises.
Ruto is quickly becoming a laughing stock of the nation and as time goes by, his national influence-if he had any- will decline dramatically. This is more so when he decided to snub president Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday September 28, 2020’s Covid-19 conference at the KICC.
A majority of Kenyans feel the deputy president’s absence at the conference was inappropriate and a clear show of a lack of decorum by Kenya’s number 2 in command.
